Gabriel Martins Faria completed his Degree in New Communication Technologies in 2018/07 and his master in Multimedia Communication in 2021/02, both from the University of Aveiro. He's currently a PhD student in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms at the University of Aveiro. He works in the area of Social Sciences with an emphasis on Communication and Information Sciences. His research interests are: - Communication; - Evaluation of user experience; - Usability assessment; - Front-end and back-end programming; - Design and development of multiplatform interfaces (web and mobile); - Design for iTV; - Personal assistance.

Telmo Eduardo Silva got his graduation and Master's degree in Electronic, Telecommunication, and Informatics by the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication and Arts at the University of Aveiro. In 2014 he got his PhD degree in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms (ICPD). As a member of the research unit DigiMedia his investigation interests are: - Design, development, and evaluation of iTV services considering the needs of the specific target audience; - Design and development of applications to Web and mobile devices also considering the needs of the specific target audience.

Brief Bio
Associate Professor at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Holds a degree and a Master in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (1992, 1996), a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Technologies (2007), and the Aggregate title in the domain of Communication Technologies (2017), all from the University of Aveiro. After his participation in several European projects at the Electronics and Telecommunications Department of the University of Aveiro, he joined the Department of Communication and Arts in 1996. Currently, he lectures in Communication Sciences and Technologies undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses offered by his department. He was Director of the Master in Multimedia Communication (2011-14) and is Vice-Director of the Ph.D. Program on Information and Communication in Digital Platforms (since 2014) and of the Ph.D. Program on New Media (since 2022).
Ana Carla Migueis Amaro

Brief Bio
Ana Carla Amaro obtained her High Degree in Science and Communication Technologies and her Doctoral degree in Multimedia in Education from the University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal. She has Post-doctoral training in Science and Communication Technologies, having carried out research in Digital Media and Interaction to understand intergenerational affordances and impacts. Her research interests include technology-enhanced intergenerational communication, learning and play, and HCI design, along with the production of audiovisual and multimedia content for specific audiences (children and older adults). More recently, she has co-led research projects on innovative technological approaches to preserving and promoting cultural heritage. Ana Carla Amaro is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication and Art, University of Aveiro, teaching subjects in Communication Sciences and Technologies to various study cycles and supervising master and doctoral students. She is also a member of the research unit Digimedia - Digital Media and Interaction. She was Vice-Director of the High Degree in New Communication Technologies from 2013 to 2016 and has been part of the Course Committee for this degree from 2021 to 2024. She has collaborated on scientific committees and editorial boards and has been a reviewer in several international journals and scientific events.

SCOPE

This workshop explores innovative strategies to enhance older adults' well-being and social connections, with a particular emphasis on the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). It invites researchers and practitioners to present studies and initiatives that strengthen social bonds, foster meaningful interactions, and address social isolation among seniors. The workshop encourages exploration of diverse ICT-based tools and methodologies designed to overcome the unique challenges faced by this population, aiming to improve their quality of life, independence, and community engagement. Contributions that examine how ICT can support social, cultural, or recreational integration, as well as other forms of support for active and participatory aging, are especially welcome. The goal is to advance innovative, technology-enabled practices that empower older adults and promote their inclusion in a connected society.
